iPhone & iPad
To update your Quartet apps to the latest version:

• On your iPad or iPhone, go to the App Store and tap on the circular Account icon (top right) then scroll down to ‘Available Updates’
• Scroll to find the Quartet apps that you have and tap on ‘Update’ for each individual app.

Mac
To update your Quartet apps running on your Mac to the latest version:

• On your Mac, go to the App Store and then in the sidebar select ‘Updates’
• In the list, find your Quartet apps and click on ‘Update’ for each individual app.

Please note: the ‘Quartet 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 Bundle’ is a collection of individual Quartet apps bought at the same time. Updating these apps has to be done on an individual basis, as above.

Quartet is listed in the Mac App Store but you will need to turn on the search filter (usually in the top left corner of the screen) to ‘iPhone and iPad apps‘ to see the Quartet listings.

At the moment, playlists created in a Quartet app (e.g. Quartet Vol.1) will synchronise across all the other Quartet apps you own, but on the same device, so that all of your playlists are visible from any other Quartet app.

Certain functions can be controlled using keyboard shortcuts when running Quartet on a Mac.

The table below shows these shortcuts:

There is no global setting for mix type since all alternative preset mixes and the audio files for a custom mix are downloaded over the internet as required by the user. In order to keep the app size manageable, only the Trio mix (Piano/Bass/Drums) for every song is installed during the App Store download.

With the latest update of the Quartet apps (23rd August 2026) the way ‘My Playlists’ is accessed has changed. This is because the app now works in both portrait and landscape mode.

‘My Playlists’ can be found by first tapping the circular ‘menu’ button at the top right of the ‘Search+’ screen and then selecting ‘My Playlists’ from the pop-up list.

To suggest a song, please head over to the Quartet Hub:

• You can do this via the Hub menu item in any of the Quartet apps, or
• You can go directly to this page on our website: https://www.quartetapp.com/hub/

Scroll down the page to section called  ‘Request a Song’ where there is an online form you can fill in to make the suggestion.

On 23rd August 2026 there was a major update to the Quartet apps (Quartet Vols. 1 to 6).

This update added a significant number of chord variations the app could display compared to the earlier releases.

As a result, some songs may now display chord variations that reflect more accurately the chords the musicians were playing.

To restore your version of Quartet back to its original state (with all BPM, pitch changes and number of repeats set back to their default state), you will need to delete the app and download again from the App Store (free). Please first make a backup of any playlists you wish to keep by exporting the playlist (to a local folder on your device) – and import it back in after you have re-installed the app.

To perform a ‘clean install’ on a Mac, do the following:

1. Delete your Quartet app(s) from the ‘Applications’ folder
2. Empty the ‘Trash/Bin’
3. Click on ‘Finder’, then ‘Go’ in the Menu Bar
4. Scroll down to ‘Go To Folders’
5. Type in ~/Library/Containers/
6. At that destination, drag the Quartet folder(s) to ‘Trash/Bin’
7. Empty ‘Trash/Bin’
8. Restart your device.
9. Download the Quartet apps again from the App Store.

The Quartet apps are Mac-compatible (as opposed to a dedicated Mac app). They can be installed on newer Macs which use the M-series chips (i.e. ‘Apple silicon’ processors, not Intel).

First purchase the Quartet app or app bundle via the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.

Then, on your Mac, go to the App Store and click on your name (bottom left) to go to your account. (You need to use the same Apple ID you used to purchase the iOS apps).

From the menu select ‘iPhone & iPad Apps’ and find and click on the Quartet app.

Click on the ‘Get’ download button and the app will install.

Please note: One purchase will allow you to run a Quartet app on all devices – iPad, iPhone & Mac.

Quartet is not currently a dedicated Mac app although it works brilliantly on any M-series Mac. It is, however, a ‘compatible iOS app’. For this reason we are not allowed to promote the bundles that you see in the iOS App Store – but you can buy the Quartet bundles in the iOS App Store and then also download the apps from the ‘Purchased’ section of your Apple account on your Mac device.

Quartet apps no longer have any in-app purchases.

Exporting the multitrack for any song is now free of charge for all users. Some Mac users may still be seeing the old in-app purchase screen.

You need to fully delete the previous versions of Quartet from your Mac by following the exact sequence below:

1. Delete all versions of Quartet from the Applications folder on your Mac
2. Empty the Recycle Bin
3. Now go to the following location by tapping ‘Go To’ (on top menu) and typing this exact location/phrase:   ~/Library/Containers/
4. Drag the Quartet folders into the Bin and empty the Bin again.
5. Power off your Mac and restart it
6. Reinstall all copies of Quartet from the App Store.

You can stream Quartet to AirPlay compatible devices, such as the Samsung Series 7 TV or a compatible speaker system, by doing the following:

1. Make sure your iPad/iPhone and your Apple TV or speakers are on the same network
2. Start playing a Quartet song on your iPad/iPhone
3. Close the app (and the song should still continue playing in the background)
4. On you device’s Home screen, swipe down from the top right to open the Control Centre
5. In the Media control section, you should see the Quartet song artwork of the song you are playing.
6. Tap on the AirPlay icon to the right of this artwork.
7. Select the device you want to stream the audio to and close the Control Centre
8. Open Quartet and the audio should be streamed to your chosen device.
