Frequently Asked Questions
I can't see the +/- buttons in order to change key or tempo
Some users with iPhone Pro models are not seeing the +/- buttons to adjust Key or Tempo (Pro Max models are not affected). To rectify this you will need to disable ‘Larger Text’:
Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Display & Brightness’ > ‘Display Zoom’ and make sure the ‘Default’ setting is selected as opposed to ‘Larger Text’.
How do I update my Quartet apps to the latest version?
Please note: The Quartet Bundles are a collection of individual Quartet apps bought at the same time. Updating these apps has to be done on an individual basis, see below:
iPhone & iPad
To update your Quartet apps to the latest version:
• On your iPad or iPhone, go to the App Store and tap on the circular Account icon (top right) then scroll down to ‘Available Updates’
• Scroll to find the Quartet apps that you have and tap on ‘Update’ for each individual app.
Mac
To update your Quartet apps running on your Mac to the latest version:
• On your Mac, go to the App Store and then in the sidebar select ‘Updates’
• In the list, find your Quartet apps and click on ‘Update’ for each individual app.
My chord blocks have turned blue and I can't see the moving playhead!
This is an accessibility setting on your device called BUTTON SHAPES which highlights all pressable buttons in the app.
To fix this:
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and turn off Button Shapes.
Quartet will issue a permanent solution for this in the October update.
On the Play screen (Chords view) the chords don't look right. They're all blue.
This is a settings issue on your device which causes the screen colours to reverse due to the ‘Invert Colors’ accessibility feature being enabled.
To fix this on your device:
Open the Settings app on your device.
Tap on ‘Accessibility’.
Tap on ‘Display & Text Size’.
Look for ‘Smart Invert’ and ‘Classic Invert’.
Toggle both of these options to ‘Off’.
Also turn off ‘Increase Contrast’.
Ensure ‘Bold Text’ is switched off.
Color Filters:
While you are in the Display & Text Size settings, check that the ‘Color Filters’ option is also turned off.
If you’re also not seing the moving playhead when you play a song, turn off ‘Button Shapes’.
Restart your device:
To restart, press and hold the power button until the power off slider appears, then slide the slider to turn off the device. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
How do I connect to my TV or speaker with AirPlay?
You can stream Quartet to AirPlay compatible devices, such as the Samsung Series 7 TV or a compatible speaker system, by doing the following:
- Make sure your iPad/iPhone and your Apple TV or speakers are on the same network
- Start playing a Quartet song on your iPad/iPhone
- Close the app (and the song should still continue playing in the background)
- On you device’s Home screen, swipe down from the top right to open the Control Centre
- In the Media control section, you should see the Quartet song artwork of the song you are playing.
- Tap on the AirPlay icon to the right of this artwork.
- Select the device you want to stream the audio to and close the Control Centre
- Open Quartet and the audio should be streamed to your chosen device.
How do I restore 'factory settings'?
To restore your version of Quartet back to its original state (with all BPM, pitch changes and number of repeats set back to their default state), you will need to delete the app and download again from the App Store (free). Please first make a backup of any playlists you wish to keep by exporting the playlist (to a local folder on your device) – and import it back in after you have re-installed the app.
I can’t get Quartet to show in Portrait mode.
Currently Quartet will only play in landscape mode. This is not a bug. We designed it this way in order to show chord symbols, chord diagrams and the song playhead to be as large as possible for users. We are working on a split screen view (for iPad) which will allow Quartet to be played alongside other compatible 3rd party apps.
How do I install Quartet on my Mac?
The Quartet apps are Mac-compatible (as opposed to a dedicated Mac app). They can be installed on newer Macs which use the M-series chips (i.e. ‘Apple silicon’ processors, not Intel).
First purchase the Quartet app or app bundle via the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.
Then, on your Mac, go to the App Store and click on your name (bottom left) to go to your account. (You need to use the same Apple ID you used to purchase the iOS apps).
From the menu select ‘iPhone & ipad Apps’ and find and click on the Quartet app.
Click on the ‘Get’ download button and the app will install.
Please note: One purchase will allow you to run a Quartet app on all devices – iPad, iPhone & Mac.
Why can't I see the bundle in the Mac App Store?
You can only buy Quartet bundles by visiting the App Store on an iPad or iPhone and purchasing them there. The individual apps will then be available for use on your Mac so long as you have ‘Apple Silicon’ processors (i.e. the M-series chips).
How do I restore a song's tempo or key back to the original?
Tapping the + or – icons either side of the KEY and TEMPO buttons changes the song’s key/tempo. To revert back to the original ‘as recorded’ settings, tap the button in between the – and + icons. A pop-up button will appear and will ask you if you wish to reset the values.
